I thought it was forever
a permanent feature
to disregard with familiarity
and ignore through expectation
A small thing though it was
it stood into the light
refusing to washed away
benign to my fears
simply existing
until I could do nothing
but accept
and that’s when it changed
it came loose
and fell away
leaving no evidence
of an existence
I was forced to accept
leaving nothing good
leaving nothing bad
benign to my fears
benign to me.

All too often that which we come to rely upon can just disappear. I think you've captured both parts here; the dependence and the uncertainty that follows its loss.

Good job

:D

I do see the similarities, Tim. Although I like mine, I think I like yours' better. It's subtle.
Now, mine seems so much more graphic. (blood blister & what not. . . )
Nice piece.
