IRAQ: EACH DAY A FURTHER TRAGEDY

Contributed by steeleyes on Monday, 11th September 2006 @ 05:21:01 PM in AEST
Topic: war

Iraq and Afghanistan
It just keeps getting worse
Day on dreadful day
Like some kind of ancient curse

There seems no end in sight
No clean way out
Whenever we do come to leave
It can't help but be a rout

Pandora's Box was opened
Without just reason or cause
No links to 9/11 or terror
Just illogic of Neocon flaws

Look at all the suffering
Of the Iraqis and our troops
Not just the deaths, the trauma
To just benefit hardline groups

Bush created a training ground
In this now fractured land
A training ground for terror
I do hope you understand

What reason did Bush give
For all thos chaos and death?
That Iraq had terror weapons
All said with lying breath

No such weapons were found
No such weapons were there
The lies of Bush and all the rest
Were ALLl that were laid bare

So many now have died
So many traumatised
And Iraq is now a recruiting ground
I do hope you've realised

Bush has been exposed
As an incompetent, liar and fraud
A man guilty of mass murder
In the name of his own god

This hell is open-ended
Pandora's Box can never be shut
As our soldiers die daily
With all decent lifelines cut

Iraq has become a symbol
With Abu Ghraib and innocent death
It and Guantanamo also
Gives terror recruitment breath

Recruitment of ever more fighters
Against the USA
They use all this injustice
To build new threats today

The Neocon tactics have backfired
Counterproductive and flawed
We have a resurgent terror
They've NOT been shocked or awed

If only it had been different
With much wiser men in power
Holding a firm and honourable line
In the importance of that hour

Forming a long-lasting resolute stance
To defeat terror ongoing, day by day
Holding firm to integrity
In a truly moral way

Think of the result they'd win
No ally would oppose them then
A whole decent world united
Led by known just men

But that's NOT what has happened
That's NOT what we've seen
Finally I hope you understand
What I truly mean

Laughing at the pic of Bush. I am so ashamed of him. He is the terrorist. Wonderful, truthful write. I don't know WTF people in this world are doing anymore. Many scare the crap out of me. Bush is at the top of my list. Great political write, as always.
Peace my friend,
Laura

Brilliant write, the day they went to war it was like throwing a pepple in a river, the ripples were the effect we are having now.. War is never the answer.. xxx

This was really well written and made some very good points. But I absoutely take issue with Bush being called a terrorist. (I did not vote for him nor do I agree with him on many issues.) I am ashamed that there are those in our country who would say such a thing. You may not agree with his policy as is our right in our very FREE society but he is a just man with a certain agenda that some do not agree with. So vote for others who reflect your views. Also have you heard of any beheadings recently at Abu Ghraid or Guantanamo? ? ? Iraq is a very difficult subject and most of us don't know what is right or just given this god awful terror laden world we live in where not being muslim means you are an infidel which means you are a target for death. I am sorry I have rambled so much but your poetry lights a fire inside of me.
