Yet here I stand,
In a country in turmoil,
Get me out of this forsaken land.

Why did I sign up?
I had a great plan,
Yet for my country,
I march on gun in hand.

When only last week,
A dear friend of mine was laid to rest,
Listen up Mr President!
This whole war is a f*****g mess.

Please listen to me,
Get us out of here,
Before the children of a murdered father,
Start shedding their tears.

I just shot a normal man,
Before I did, I looked into his eyes,
I saw through his disguise,
Deep down inside, he was terrified.

Yet still he was going to kill me,
For his leaders beliefs,
So I had no choice,
I blew his head off for my country.

You call this freedom?
I call this pain,
And when we're all done,
We all know, including your Mr President,
That this country is never going to be the same.

I'll keep on saying that,
Until my face is really sore,
Still I'll keep marching on,
'Cos at the end of the day this is war.

Angry, and for good reason! Good flow to this, and an excellent point made.... War sucks! For anyone... For any reason...

my brother-in-law told of a situation wherein he stood eye-to-eye and had to shoot a vietnamese soldier..he said also that it was just a normal man. Later on he had nightmares..eventually took his own life..........very sad.

Very sad but well written.
I honer all soilders. You'll put up with so much then when someones injured and back home. Mr. President wants to cut your money down.
I have no respect for a President that's care more for oil than the men that die to protect a people that doesn't want help.
I'm sure some are very thankfull but still it all comes down to our soilders and their families that make all the screfices.
Great writing.
luv, big huggs, many pryaers,
emy

Might be a good idea if Mr President and priministers were made to go and fight, may be they would think twice before they went to war.. All the deaths are on their conscience
and one day they will have to answer.. Great poem...xxx

A look into a soldier's mind...

Some wouldn't even go in the abyss of the scorned...

You did it well

Thank You

Bill
