She ties the old string into a knot
Daintilly resting on her pinky
She remebered being told when she was small
"Tie a string around your pinky when you want to remember something"
Tears flood her eyes, blinding her from the brown knot
A knot not to remember to take out the trash
Or that she needed to clean the kitchen
This knot she would wear every day
And look at it when ever his face came to mind
This knot was not to remember...

i get how that feels, like you want to forget someone, but they're tied to you and in reality no matter how long it's been you still want them.
it's tragic.
