All wrapped up in their fur coats
The tall slim one in black.,a green eyed gem
Her long slender legs, trembling..was she scared?

She stares through the bars
Her eyes narrowing, turning golden
Retreating, she cowers behind the others
In this dark corner she feels invisible.

She senses the small family approach
As a doll sized hand reaches out
The other two approach..united
Accepting the childs clumbsy touch.

The tiny child pivots, her eyes questioning
Pleading to help these three females
The mother turns, tears staining her face
The father, unsure what to do next.

Heads lowered, they shuffle away
Shoulders hunched over ,
Two they could manage,
But three was too many.

They talk quietly amongst themselves
A decision reached, a committment made
They approach the jailor
And bail out all three.

They provided love and shelter
The tall one still scared
But not of the tiny hand
Of the sweet gentle girl.

You're very good at describing things, Stormy. In free verse imagery is important, and you've done a fine job in this one.

Kudo's for a very good write, but I didn't guess abot the cats, haha...Probably because that was the first thing I saw before reading through the poem.

Much Love,
