What of Many Suitors

Contributed by Lilly-Quill on Friday, 25th August 2006 @ 02:20:53 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Let’s talk about “separating the men from the boys.”
Say there’s a prospective lady~ as charming as a ploy.
Men rally and dally around her, hopeful for affection;
While a confident other waits in the wings for direction.

Territorial, that’s what they say, and I almost do believe.
Men think they know what they want~ trying to retrieve.
Some inquire cowardly by others, sort-of second-hand.
Wouldn’t it be better to invest with time to comprehend?

See, there’s the bonding thing which true friendship brings.
Don’t have gaps in the process of bonding; you need wings.
Prioritize to realize the cost and value of such a gift gained.
Sure women want to be chased, for a while, with time in vain.

Still, men gather to the intended Belle like a moth to a flame.
They say it’s the woman’s choice but the man leads the game
The glory of the hunt for men is to duel or endure for the prize.
Problem is later-on they neglect their gift for boredom’s demise.

Then they’re back where they began; hardly a lesson learned.
Forget assumptions; men could brave that wall, though spurned.
Give it a shot, have a go, no matter if there are others profound.
What vast variables of reasons to choose a mate which is sound.

So have you been watching wild kingdom? LOL Is this not what happens with most species. All the males try to gain the affection for the single female, with the most dominant winning out, and then the male generally gets bored and moves on, they are the boys and then the men find their soul mate to settle down with and living happily ever after. Really enjoyed your write, thought it was great. Yes, the female species really do seem to control the male species every well. Take care.

We are but shallow animals-tis true. But women are animalistic too. It's all about the posturing and displays of attractiveness. The bird of paradise is my hero in this category-got it down to a fine art form. Great poem.x
