If nothing frightens you, something unnatural here
Perhaps one just hides behind the self
And occasionally peaks out, from within themself
How long have you lingered with fear
Seems your constant companion and overseer
Are you afraid to be afraid
For then you cannot be brave
Can you only cry on the inside
Hoping the pain will subside
Yet it takes strength to admit your weakness
Perhaps being afraid is not a sign of meekness
Maybe being afraid is not so bad
But the fear of fear can drive you mad
You have a choice, to be happy or sad
Although that is hard to perceive, when feeling so drab
Don't let anybody make you think
That you are helpless and on the brink
So when you are down and out
And you search for the strength to sort things out
Seek that inner resource in which He partakes
Subjugate any problem you have to our faith
To be emotional and sometimes afraid
Is just part of being human, bravery to be displayed [comments] => 5 [counter] => 142 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Again...wise words from a wise man. Always a pleasure to read you. Thanks for sharing. I loved your last two lines, so true, so true.
Peace, Laura

Yes, as laura said, very wise words indeed will!

The title is outstanding! and the words that follow
are so profoundly filled with acumen and enlightenment ..

"Yet it takes strength to admit your weakness
Perhaps being afraid is not a sign of meekness"

I couldn't agree more !!

Beautiful work ..

I have been here a few times now Terry and I do believe that the notion of showing fear is a large show of personal strength. I think you did well here.

fear is really a sign of wisdom..if we know the time and place for it. Some are foolish and are afraid to show fear.
I loved your write.
