Sunshine or Dew

Contributed by Man_On_High on Wednesday, 9th August 2006 @ 12:53:48 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

To the half-unfolded flower
With fragrance-laden heart:
"What is thy secret power
That doth thy petals part?
What gave thee all thy hue,
The sushine or the dew?

Your wonder-wakened soul!
As dawn steals 'way the night,
And you so soft, love hath stole
Thine eye that blooms with light;
What makes your charm so new,
The sunshine or the dew?"

Nice write. Short, sweet, simple... yet a lot like something Shakespeare would write and usually I'm not fond of things that remind me of Shakespeare... but this was good. Excellent write. And those are great feelings to have... hold onto them and keep on writing!

Wow .. jerseysue took the words right out of my mouth! lol Good call sue!

Billy ... such sweet and soft sentiments within this piece
doth lie .. I hardly have the wits about me to comment on
how it both moves and touches me.

And if I may be so bold .. it was neither sunshine nor
the dew, but only the purest love so true ..

XO
~Breezy

Beautiful and arfully constructed. I'll go for the sunshine.

Beautiful in its simplicity... I love this, these two small stanzas say everything and that is the way things should be said, I believe.

I love your metaphor here, it's unique, and very clever.

Great write, my friend,
Phil xxx

great write bro...these are the types of poems i like best...i'm sure there is a particular name or style this falls under, but my amateur self is not sufficiently conversant to know what it is..lol..

at any rate, i love the flow and rhyme scheme...and the way they compliment the beautiful message therein.

the clarity of the message, coupled with the sheer brevity transforms this from a good poem into a great one.

i'm left in awe...

your bro,

wizid...(kid)
