what a great surprise:
From single cell to multi-cell,
wow! - what a leap in size.

Invertibrate on to vertibrate,
amazing was the jump.
LOOK - part jellyfish, part bird,
all in one juicy lump.

Here come the happy simians,
they're a-changing all the time:
miracle upon miracle -
the ascent from primordial slime.

What makes this tale conceivable?-
Well, the evolutionist stands aloof,
and if you just have "faith" enough,
you have no need of proof.

After all, we'd be jingoistic
to give creation the nod.
It's much to simplistic
to say: " In the beginning God."

Very well penned Lionel.
A very worthy theme and subject. It is indeed refreshing to see it being tackled.
I did, too, in my own way, but oh la la, solely by writing a tribute Ode to Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J.
whose glorious works deal more than extensively with this issue.
Perhaps you might read my humble de of admiration to him, and find one of his works in some library.
Thanks for sharing this refreshing poem with us.
Elizabeth

Excellently presented insight penned with lightheartedness and fantastic flow. Enjoyed this work immensely. Very well written.

Hmmmmm. Obviously, religiously inspired. How does one contend with that? With something so etched in stone, close minded, and driven? Not
trying to be rude here, in fact quite the opposite. Just asking a question...
The ultimate question? Why do the religious always exhault in their own, frequently limited, constantly quoted, poetry?

Although you did a great job with this. Very creative. And I'm not trying to push my philosophy on you, with my poem. Just writing a poem. As you'll see in my other writings...

I think religion argues against itself, if we could not see or hear? How would you know about which ever religion is taught?. It is not born into us and therefore is an indoctrination like every other thing therefore man made and corruptable.
I do think it slightly hypocrtical to take those asprin those anti-biotics and all those other things science has offered and improved our lives. Then turn on Science when it offers a logical and (depending on your opinion) a simple explantion for life. However, Religion brings people hope and people often need it. But anyway...I strangley liked the poem allthough it seems to insult my faith which is, Science, sad that is acceptable but vice versa is not. Anyway peace and love.

Professing themselves wise,
they became fools and changed the glory of
nature into an image made like
corruptible man, and to birds, and four
footed beasts, and creeping things."
