my face starts to look like a dried up leaf,
my gum start saying goodbye to my teeth
hope as I approach a centry, ninety becomes the new twenty,
I DONT WANT TO GET OLD!!!

I dont want to sit and groan,
because the hair on my head ,is more in my comb,
skin like a turkey on my throat,
hanging on my body like a worn out coat,
I DONT WANT TO GET OLD!!!

Shopping bags under my eyes,
veins showing through my legs and thighs,
your bladder suddenly springs a leak,
all your bones start to creak.
I DONT WANT TO GET OLD!!!

Then your memories starts to wain,
you repeat things over and over again,
suddenly you have no figure,
your ears and nose get alamingly bigger.
I DONT WANT TO GET OLD!!!

your once pert bossom, starts to droop
now you walk with a stoop,
then the thing you most feared,
waking up with a beard,
I DONT WANT TO GET OLD!!!

Becoming a really old codger,
dont want to be a coffin dodger,
I could jump of beachy head,
think its best to be old then dead
I DONT WANT TO BE OLD!!!

Im going to do lots of reading,
then my brain power i'll be feeding,
even though im old and grey,
all young friends will come to stay,

I'll tell stories of my youth,
they'll say I have a lovely tooth,
they'll see beauty in my eyes,
tell me that im kind and wise,

Well suffice to say, you don't want to get old, me well I don't mind, and to be honest , I wouldn't want to be young again either. Life may have hit me hard sometimes, but I also have my good memories too. Well written and funny, but look at some of the stars, they look younger than their daughters now. Sue x

I loved this poem! It's so witty and well written and let's face it, who does really want to get old! Fair enough if it's the only option to being dead but it's good to run and not have to live on mash potato!!

Ha! very humerous take on the inevitable wear and tear. I guess if we're lucky we will all have some time as wrinklys and crumblies, not just smoothies and freshies (though as I get older, I look at getting that old with a jaundiced perspective).
