It's not current, then... but, still, somehow is -- for obviously I've been pondering poets again. *** [bodytext] =>

It was instinct, previously…
Chasing some distant shadow of myself
Through darkened corridors and
Squeezing myself through the spaces
In between the words left on the page
By long passed, neurotic poets.

Their voices, my echoes –
Leading me through the night
And anchoring my soul
When a storm of confused thought
Threatened to carry me off.

My muted words, reverberating
As their voices fuse dark and light,
Sometimes in foreign tongues
Or with words I don't yet know,
To shatter the silent storm.

It is necessity now, as breathing is…
A returning to the place where I keep
Some essential part of myself.
An addiction, this need, to explore
The myriad of unspeakable things
I simply cannot face alone.

My sanctuary
Has never been an earthly place…

And my solitude,
Never my own. [comments] => 14 [counter] => 327 [topic] => 69 [informant] => Silent-No-More [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => poets )

Wow, reading this was a wonderful journey. I enjoy a piece I can somehow relate to....that I somehow can understand. Your words draw me deeply in, as usual Snemmy. Very powerful write. Thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura

the final two couplets are painful and hard to render..(personally)
they're relative to all I've ever known.

"And my solitude,
Never my own."

I don't often quote lines, but these are frightening
(only as, they follow the rest) in that, my own soilitude has always been generated by a lackluster-take on life and love (for many reasons)

and that those who are dearest to me, might bare the same emotion, merely by being conjoined, emotionally or other-wise, is not unlike a virus .. invading some proverbial host.

There's much more to this.. so much more.
It's brilliant.

Billy

A very perceptive write with a most beautiful and insightful view of the soul. Nicely done.

I, at one time, thought how glorious it would be to live inside a book.
..and now, having got to know you better, I realize it IS possible.
To live within the words and sentiments and absolutely BRILLIANT
voices of all who inspire and encourage .. this, yes THIS is
definitely a sanctuary of sorts.

This line ..

"Chasing some distant shadow of myself"

all I can say is .. I completely relate and feel you immensely in there.
Your view is often so refreshing to me, snemmy and to have you
share it so willingly ... I can't say how welcome and wonderful
that is. Brilliant piece of work this is.

Oh, this was good. Such vivid , descriptive writes are few and far between, and those first two stanzas have that kind of grabbing effect on the reader--they just pull you into that world. This whole thing left me tingly...lol awesome stuff.

(This reminds me of the stuff people go up and read in front of crowds, then the whole crowd snaps instead of claps...lol i loved it. You should've seen me snapping over here :P)

This is beautiful. Now me, I rarely get a chance to READ other poets anywhere but online. I like the 3rd verse best -- and doncha just love that word "reverberate"?! Nice work Snemmy. Wish we had bookmarks here. ;-)

You way with words always impresses me. The imagery is so vivid. I especially like the first stanza, but they're all so beauful. My favorite verse in the poem is....

"When a storm of confused thought
Threatened to carry me off"

Wonderful poem, Snemmy

Self exploration is never easily accomplished.

It is necessity now, as breathing is…
A returning to the place where I keep
Some essential part of myself.

Sometimes I wonder if the gains justify the means. Is looking deep down the way to realization, or actualization…actually it is.

This is the poem to explain why people write poems. It is the reason why people seek reasons, or answers to questions never posed, but need answering nonetheless.

Fabulous write.
