Baby, Baby, Baby...

Contributed by Ruby2sdy on Wednesday, 19th July 2006 @ 05:31:18 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

‘Baby’ he says, with that lopsided smile,
‘You couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity’,
The grin is never true, it never reaches his eyes,
‘Shame you missed it, sweet thing.’
He’s rubbing salt into my wounds,
He didn’t love me, it was just an empty façade,
Doomed, if you ask me,
From the very start,
‘You’re a clever girl’ I say to the mirror,
‘Why did you fall for him?’
But my reflection doesn’t answer,
Just stares back with that obscenely irritating blankness,
That’s now my bloody trademark,
Emptiness, blank expression,
Worn out from fighting,
And completely messed up.
Wasted so much time with that heartless drag,
What if the real ‘one’ has passed me by?
What if I am doomed from this moment on,
To be alone forever, until the day I die?
But no, this self doubt is depreciating,
It’s just pouring guilt into a heart that’s true,
‘You were honest,’ I tell that vacant girl,
‘You really loved him, didn’t you?’
Still she doesn’t answer,
But a tear slides from her eye;
That heartless drag left this messed up girl,
All alone to cry.
