Oxygen is your fuel
Sweat is your coolant
Blood is your ignition ...

Turn the key .

You are an athlete

39 degrees celcius is
perfect weather
Two feet of snow is
perfect weather
Lighting and hail is
perfect weather...

for a game .

You are an athlete

Where is my shorts?!
Where is my jersey?!
Where is my breakfast?!

10 minutes.....
before your game .

You are an athlete .

Your neck is in spasms
Your arm is broken
Your two front teeth are gone

you smile .

You are an athlete

Tears are real
Cheers are real
Upsets are real
You get up an practice

the next day .

You are an athlete

You pray -
You pray --
You pray ---

You'll win ....

You are an athlete.

Strong,Proud,Brave ...

Oh my, it's so accurate! The whole thing. The weather and the rush, and especially the pain. Through bloody noses, turned ankles, broken wrists and split lips. Throw a band-aid on, wrap it up quick and run back in. Just last night a team mate of mine was stuffing a tissue up her nose to finish the game and last season I ended up playing through a broken arm.

I loved the poem, it read great, and made me think of all those every-day things that are such a part of the sport-world.

Great job!!! :)
