Care as I might,
other worldly urges pull me
in directions unknown.
Torn between reality and
visions of Xanadu
Your smile eludes my clouded eyes.

What am I doing?

Clouded by synthetic pleasures,
Orally and intravenously
subdued to a place
where return is still possible
and you’ll still be waiting.

Why do you wait?

The dreams are vivid,
You’re leaving tears
Deeply at my soul.
I awake with the door’s slam
And I hear you
gently breathing on tearstained pillow

How could you stay?

Your presence, a realization
I fear this could be my
Last second chance.
Morning’s light fills
my heart and head with new hope,
this is not like all the other mornings

Thank you for believing in me. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 444 [topic] => 48 [informant] => poet_in_waiting [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

This piece tugs at me for several reasons... all of which, I think, have everything to do with the tone of it. The reader cannot help but fill in the blanks as they read - wrong, right, or semi-sorta-on-target though my own thoughts may have been, I felt this to be a rather solemn piece with hope, yes... but perhaps a wondering whether it was enough hope as well. It's quite moving really.

I do hope my comments aren't off base at all. Just thoughts really... hope you don't mind.

Nice work -
~Snemmy
