There is something said for plain white bread,
It’s the wheat and oats I really dread.
And real sugar, not that blue or pink,
Nothing artificial, I tend to think.
~
Give me milk, not two percent or skim,
In real fat, my cereal should swim.
No fat-free cookies, no diet cakes,
No low-cal cream in my chocolate shakes.
~
Don’t give me seedless watermelon, or green cantaloupe,
Messing with nature gets on my goat.
No French vanilla coffee, no powder cream,
Those flavored beans make me scream.
~
Don’t replace pork for steak, salad for potato,
I want more on my sandwich than lettuce and tomato.
Don’t give me jello for dessert, water for pop,
All this diet stuff must simply just stop.
~
What ever happen to the good o’ days?
When unneeded calories melted away.
Long before fillers, and real meat hotdogs,
When a real BBQ was roasting a hog.
~
Please take me back to those thinner days,
When I looked good in a t-shirt and rays.
Back to the time when I didn’t watch what I ate,
Servings were large, and second helpings were great.

I like plain white bread, no brown fo me. This comes from a trained cook, who learnt all about diets, fibre and healthy food. Never been on a diet in my life, and am too long in the tooth to start now. Great poem. and yes keep up the eating . Sue :-)

Great poem!

I have never been on a diet, but then again I hardly eat anything so I don't really have to. I eat like a mouse, always have. I suppose it's just a matter of what your body needs.

Anyway, I totally agree with you. Where were the days that people could eat anything and still stay thin. My grandfather used to eat loads of fatty foods like bacon and eggs swmming in butter etc and he was in good shape. I suppose it's all the artificial junk that makes people fat these days.

Well done!

~D~

Yikes...I hate all those artificial stuff...and never worried about my weight until the Doctor told me last year that I needed to lose a few pounds.... I did..I lost 14 pounds.... then I started eating every and anything again...and put it (almost) all back...
Good write..
Jenni
