Like tiny pearls, the morning dew lies fresh in beads
upon each blade of grass and each white petal.
I watch the wispy white clouds float lazily by;
There is one that looks like a dragon.

Suddenly the dragon turns black, and moves to block out the sun.
A misty veil of rain has begun to fall.
Steadily, the rain comes heavier; the dragon lets out a deafening roar.
Like fire from the dragon's mouth, a bolt of lightning streaks across the darkened sky.

Frantic, I search for a place to hide.
Alas! there is none but the shelter of a large tree.
Mercilessly, the dragon looms overhead - I run for the tree.
O, will no one hear my desperate cry for help?
Will no one save me?

Warmth surrounds me and a feeling of relief
drowns out the helplessness.
The tree has become a knight in shining armour,
standing tall and brave. He has come at last to rescue me;
In no time at all, the sun and rainbows return.
My knight has slain the dragon, and driven away
the storm of loneliness.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
