One I left behind
Perhaps it’s on a backyard swing
Or up that tree I climbed

I might have dropped it skipping rope
Or bouncing on the bed
Running barefoot through the city park
Or digging in the sand

When rustling trees created wind
I’m sure I had it then
All I needed was the perfect wave
To bring me sailing in

Grassy hills were meant to roll down
Snow was made to throw
Maybe it’s sitting on the playground
My pocket had a hole

When clouds were really animals
And mountains sleeping men
Kool-aid was elixir
Jellybeans were vitamins

Promises were things you gave
And also things you kept
Once the things I couldn’t change
Were things I could accept

When heaven was a place you go
To rest and be with friends
Back when love implied forever
Always meant it wouldn’t end

Seeking just a little bit
Of me that I’ve misplaced
I’m sure that I could find it
If my steps could be retraced

beautiful imagery... well formed... the hope and sadness within this poem submits a strong parallel of life... makes me cry and smile at the same time...
