I really hate those long good-byes
Wanted you to know
No more tears will fill my eyes
It's so clear to me
Can't believe it took so long
For this fool to see
That I simply don't belong

And I wish you well
Hope you find true love at last
I will break your spell
I'll forget about the past
Wash it out of mind
Just a lonesome poet's dream
Took a while to find
Things aren't always as they seem

So I held on for tomorrow but tomorrow never came
And I wished on every bright star that you'd once more feel the same
Yes, I know it was a long shot to rekindle this romance
But an ever hoping dreamer simply had to take the chance....

Anyway, I'm gone
Out of sight is out of mind
I will carry on
Can't believe I was so blind
Pain has made me wise
And I wanted you to know
Hate those long good-byes
So it's time for me to go

Whether or not this is about you, it's a very sincere piece of work. So exact and honest. If this is you then, without sounding patronizing, well done for the way you've handled the situation

For some reason Larry, it's always hard for men to let go, until we are with someone new......Mike

Aw Larry this is sad, honest and so beautiful.
I can really identify with this write. Leaving is so difficult but sometimes you've just got to know that it'll happen eventually.

Larry~
The hardest thing is letting go, but that is the only way we can move on. I know its hard especially when we have those silent moments, when all the memories flood in.
Chin up my dear friend, time heals all wounds. Wishing u much brighter days ahead Larry~
love, hugs n prayers~

Gee Larry, I thought I was leading the race in 'knife in the heart' poetry. You got some big, tired hurt happening, but it hasn't tarnished your poetic sensibilities. Well written, with that strained to exhaustion finality. Been there, man, some of the worst pain I ever felt. I kinda hope this is just creative licence, but this has been leaking out in your posts for sometime. No answers for you, except that life and love finds a different kind of expression, if the will and means are there.

I do hope you are all right. You sound so down. Your poetry is astonishing as always.
Say hello to Xavier for me.

Ginny.

good-byes of any kind are always hard. Long ones must be especially hard...this poem is beautiful. If you do another book, please include it. btw, would you mind if I advertise your book on my web site..with a short excerpt from one of your poems? let me know.

Did she own this poetry site? I don't think so! So therefore, my dear Larry, you have just banished us to a lifetime of misery in not reading your poetry again just because of ... oh, yes, hmmmm, something I did myself, wash your hands of the poetry, wash your hands of the site ... and maybe you will feel better thinking she has read this and will now feel some guilt ... ahhh, I know these feelings well ... gotcha! But it doesn't work, she'll only feel slightly bad, then toss it aside, and it's all us poor plebs out here looking for the rare awesome write you would grace us with that lose out ............ so think with the brain, and not with heart ... oh, and this is about the longest comment I will ever make on anyone's poetry ... unless it is of course twinkletoes ... gotta love the power hey? love ya Larry ... I'll make you come back, and you know it :))))

Is it her again? I can't believe someone can have so much power over you. You're a wonderful writer and tears fill my eyes thinking I won't hear from you or read your poetry again.
I think it might really break my heart not to see my name in your parentheses.. I haven't seen you on-line in ages..I want to curse at you and pound my fists against your chest..but I'll just go to the shower and weep~
bye my friend.

you're being an ass.. and I won't let go so easily. Tough on you my friend..it will be a long, lingering good-bye......so you best post something even if it's dark and gloomy..as much as I once loved your romantic writes..till I found out they were all for someone LOL aahhhhh. C'est La Vive..........whatever you write will be wonderful. Just get off your ass and do it.

Melancholy. That is what I felt while I was reading this poem.
Emotional talent is so very rare but you are very blessed to write from the deepest parts inside of you. It's a journey of tears or laughter, anger or melancholy but unforgettable nonetheless.
Your poetry touches the heart.
Truly.

When we are in love we write romantic poetry, which you have mastered, when we lose someone we've loved I guess dark poetry is the best way to express ourselves ...could this be the reason of your lost muse?
