As he strokes the ivory key
Feel the strings as they are fraying
With the hammered harmony

Watch him in the nighttime
With the poison in his hand
As he sips and trips and dances
To the rhythm of the band

See his body sink into hers
She'll embrace him and his lies
But he might run out of string
With the next knot that he ties

Note; the puppet at piano
As he bangs the ebony key
And he blows into the bottle

Drug addiction and alcoholism are caused by confusion, and they each compile that confusion more. Some people don't want to know what is right and what is wrong, and they use those items as an excuse for not understanding, and an aid to staying confused so they don't have to decide for themselves. Thank you for sharing this. wrdz

I like the simpleness of this poem with its deep underlying meanings! KUDOS!
