My Answer

To return the smile, needs a recipe of hope,
To wrap around you,to help you to cope,
For what brings us down, is truly dead end,
Can only be treated , by a mixture of blends,

Ask why my emotions , take me so low,
And why I let this hand drag me down so,
Am I to let this demon again destroy,
The pleasure of company, that I enjoy,

Or do I fight it ,with positive thoughts,
Repair , and renew, all that I sought,
Determination will help to dissuade,
The feeling of gloom, that I have today,

So consider the mixture, the recipe plain,
For no solution alone, will swallow the pain,
Don't torture yourself, to thine self be kind,
And you will become most calmer in mind,

For though life can be obscure, and rife,
Nothing is sweeter to relish ,than life,
The burden is hard, but it is not the end,
For we can take comfort, by talking to friends [comments] => 5 [counter] => 272 [topic] => 19 [informant] => jerseysue [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => InspirationalPoems )

After a weekend of eye-opening revelations about what the white man imposed on the indigenous Navajo Indi'ns in our wetiko American history, I posted Missing Smile kinda in a funk. I could honestly feel the knowing smile of my British buddy, Sue, in this poem, and returned it encouraging her to reference my poem with her "answer" post. Great write, Sue.

Sue, this is lovely on it's own yet, it is a thoughtful and positive answer to Ken's "Missing Smile." These poems would work well posted together! Nice job!
