Busy Mind
~
Sometimes I wonder why I write,
The ideas that come to me overnight.
Why can’t my mind just shut down?
Instead of wondering all around.
~
Why can’t I fall into a pattern of sleep?
Where all my thoughts would safely keep.
Why must I keep replaying the day?
When it always turns out the very same way.
~
Oh this busy mind I’d love to trade,
For one that knows it’s time to fade.
For when the lights go off and it’s time to snore,
My mind would simply shut the door.
~
Those of you, who have this type,
Must get great sleep over night.
I’m a little bit jealous, a little bit sore,
That more is less, and less is more.

Why do you write? You're a poet.
So, I guess a lot of poets are insomniacs, too, but oh well, I guess there is a price for everything.
(Personally, I prefer the words to the sleep ;) )
Anyway, great write, I'm thinking that we all get a little like this sometimes..
