What’s all the hype about?

He thinks he is so cool.
So what if he can fly!

So his muscles are real?
My tights are nicer.
And that cape, what was he thinking? .. RED?

Black is more masculine.
He doesn’t even wear a mask.
He probably thinks nobody knows
he is Clark Kent!

So what if he can fly!!
At least I HAVE a sidekick!
Someone to talk to on those
long drives to the crime scene.
So what if he can fly!!

And does he have a cool cave?
Whatever he can do I can do,
with the aid of clever gadgetry.
Wonder Woman liked me best.
I can wear kryptonite undies and still get the ladies,
and the bad guys for that matter.

So what if he can fly!
Speaking of villains!! Whilst he is off fighting
Lex Luthar, his one and only foe,
I am busy combating Penguins
Jokers, Riddlers, Catwomen and the like.
And where the hell is Metropolis anyway?
Gotham City could kick Metropolis’ ass.

So what if he can fly!
How ‘bout this story …
An alien adopted by Kansas farmers?
A not bloody likely!
Bruce Wayne is all man.
A sad demented man from earth who dresses like a bat.
But a man nonetheless.
So what if he can fly!

Definitely a poem, with the envious narrator somewhere between Adam West (or Adam We, for those of us who love Family Guy) and the Dark Knight of Frank Miller (may a bit of Mad magazine satire in there too).

I enjoyed this very much, have read it a few times now and its still funny, and captures the bizarre egotism of uber-males in all its competive glory. Batman sullenly jealous of Superman - what a scream!

I wrote my homage to the Bat (the good son and the dark man), but mine was much more angsty. This really took the p**ss out of them both.

Kick his candy ass, Batman!

Spike
