where love copped a feel
Memorize the pain-
sell it for moral gain
Left standing in the rain
wash away the stain
of all that remains

Call out into the middle of the night
give up before you even fight
Once tall and proud; she comes tumbling down
avoid lady luck; she wears a frown

The gasp exerted will supercede
a burning desire for failure to succeed
The cloak of night wears heavy again
unsure where I'm headed, just where I've been.

The steam rolls off the thoughtless dew
a babbling brook of thoughts; all misconstrued
In the damp, dark earth, you lay your claim
In the still of night, I bare my shame

A failed attempt to bury comtempt; the ashes fall like sands of time
the remaining evidence of a careless crime
Salty pools of sorrow gather momentum
the heart stirs, then quiets, and goes comfortably numb

It's the regret of the time lost
the booming finality of the ultimate cost
Nights stolen away-
save for another day

It's the quickening pace of death that kills
the blood-curdling silence that chills
The stealer of breaths' discreprancy
of a curtailed life expectancy

A beating heart is the ultimate sin---
in the end you never win.

OMG! I can feel the emotional plight with every word and every line in this one. This brings tears to the eyes.

A very awesome poem.

So glad to see you back and writing, even if it is a powerfully sad write like this one.

You write wonderful poems.

The emotion in this reaches out and clutches at my heart.
A very felt piece.
You mirror many of my own past feelings.

Oh Scorpy!! I am saddened by your recent couple writes, (although in utter delight and
awe that you are posting again!) Those last two lines . . . so forlorn and - final. [I know in
your heart of hearts you don't truly believe this. No true scorpio ever admits defeat!]

Part of the problem with being emotional is that when you come down from the most
incredible highs, you sink into the depths of the almost unbearable lows. [But look at
the amazing writes those wretched feelings inspire].

A masterfully written piece of YOU. Exceptional, scorpy.

*hugs*
