Time, like Spring rain, promotes a growth that isn’t always obvious from day to day… but, in the eventual
Summertime of life – one simply cannot argue the value of each and every bit of it...
no matter how heavy it fell .

It will rain again today, they say
and I am glad for it. I may need
a distraction from thinking about rain.

And it will be the same again today.
Another day strung, hung out on a line
like clean laundry dancing in the breeze.

And I don’t mind…
At least not as much as everyone
would suggest I should -

At least not… today.

Time has its own way, they say
and I, of course, have mine. Neither
one of us will ever remain unchanged.

And it’s okay, it’s only a day
which seems tolerable enough…

At least...
until it rains
and I realize -

It could have been
mine. [comments] => 10 [counter] => 278 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Silent-No-More [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 14 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Wow, very eloquent... seems to stringing together piece by piece each part as meaningful as the next. I've always been a fan of rain, it's very captivating. This could be deciphered in many ways I think - I've read a bit of your poetry and they all seem to have this deeper meaning then what, sometimes, the simplicity of the poem allows to escape. You've got a genuine talent, and a beautiful one at that. I very much enjoyed this. It is my sincere hope to see more soon.

Since it's just pondering, I won't take everything at face value...(not that I would with your writes ever anyway :) )but, to me this feels like not just coming to terms with change, but that last line especially is so full of regret it's palpalble.
Wonderful use of the rain as a metaphor and I'm still trying to figure out which is best...one day ata time...or the big picture. ;)

I think this statement: "Time, like Spring rain, promotes a growth that isn’t always obvious from day to day… but, in the eventual
Summertime of life – one simply cannot argue the value of each and every bit of it...
no matter how heavy it fell." is absolutely profound! Then, the poem proceeds to exemplify this timeless truth. Lovely write!

Ah, there's that word pondering. ;-)

"Are you pondering what I'm pondering?" Pinky: "I think so Big Brainy Fishface Stove Pie Wiggle Room Arliene, but if you "get a long little doggy" wouldn't you just call it a Dachshund?"
- Pinky and Brain (A Legendary Tail)

Anyway, how did this one slip passed me?

Very profoundly written, true poet. :D

Time does have it's own way and I imagine your days and times are always well spent creating brilliance no matter what the subject matter.

Snemmy~

I oft find your authors notes to be just as inspiring as your writes themselves. This
one being no exception and I take away so much of me, surprisingly enough, from
this most profound thought. Time is a funny thing, no? It can mend, it can ease worry and
fear, it can bring people closer together .. but in certain instances, it can, yes, seem to
stand still in a most unbearable way!! And then, before you know it, it has slipped away
and you hardly know what you did with it.

It should never be squandered. Excellent piece, hun.
Very thought-provoking as are all of your writes.

Ooh, nice ending. While I'm never sure of the complete meaning behind every word of every poem I read, I'll take my chances and say that I'm going through at *least* some of what you've written about here. If, that is, what I'm thinking about is what provoked your writing this. Regardless, it had a personally touching effect on me, and I'm glad I read it.

Realizations have a way of appearing in the form of hindsight, or are it insight. I get them confused! Nice work thank you

Even just at face value this poem is wonderfully rich, but on probing deeper into it there is a multitude of wealth just waiting to be discovered.
Regret hangs in the last line, and I can see tears, tears that mirror the rain. Time can be many things for us, but most of all it cannot be changed. A minute once passed is forever immutable and its sharp edges can only be softened by the working of the mind. This is why I feel it so important to make every minute worth it, lived how I wanted it to be in order to lessen those regrets in the future. Important, but incredibly difficult.

Beautifully thought-provoking write,

Dom
