When the earth begun its rotation,
The sun, in setting from the day,
Would smile and greet the cold pale moon,
But the moon was to shy to even blink his eye,
Then as the centuries keep turning,
The moons cold and fearful heart started to melt,
So twice a day the sun and moon would meet,
When it was the moons time to come,
At the dawn of night,
When it was the suns turn to shine,
On the dawn of day,
Good friends they made,
And much they looked forward to speaking,
For the clouds keep no good company for the sun,
And what’s the moon to say to the stars far, far away?
All the joy the lonely moon found was in the sun,
Yet, alas its is true,
The moon soon fell in love with the sun so bright,
To afraid to speak this truth the moon sealed his mouth,
And spoke this not to his one brilliant love,
Then as the sun went to set, the moon caught her gaze,
To close his fate he did say,
“My dear, my one true joy, you brought nothing but light,
Hope, peace, and warmth into my freezing and dark night,
You, and you alone I do adore, I do care, no, yes, I do…love you”
The suns turn was quickly fading and there was not time to respond,
So she just stared at the moon in wonder,
Because since the time they first were set in motion,
The sun had so dearly loved the moon!
But alas it is true,
On the morning the sun came anew,
She so sadly looked at the moon, and said,
“ You have been a friend that’s true…
But, I’m sorry I could never love you.”
And thus the moons heart was broken forever,
That day the sun did not shine,
Nor many days after that,
And the moon was to thin to even be seen,
Until finely a half face he showed,
Barely whispering the question why,
And the sun simply said,
“We are just to different, you and I.”

This is a tale from the beginning of time,

And much they looked forward to speaking,
For the clouds keep no good company for the sun,
And what’s the moon to say to the stars far, far away?

very nicely written, somewhat a depressing tale but very beautiful.
