Etrenal Mother Nature, let me rest
On thy heart while summer days pass by;
While all the heat ripples up, let me lie
Close gathered to the fragrance of thy breast.
Let not the singing birds, from some high nest
Give voice unto a thought or melody,
Nor the dreaming clouds that float along the sky
Meet any thought of promise from the west.

Lest it be the grassy breath that never mars
The peace, a musing of thine own..
Keep thy dear silence, so embraced.. alone,
forgetful of memory and scars-
My soul shall hear all songs, unsung, unknown,
Uprising with the breath of all the stars.

as i've already told you...i love this write...and, as we've learned today, this is in fact an italian sonnet, and you've done it beautifully!

with or without any pre-defined structure this would have been an awesome piece!

magnificent post!

"Sonnets have never been a strength of mine.."

?? Well . . .ya sure coulda fooled me! lol

You have an incredible ability, Billy, for not only amazing us with
words and sentiment of the dearest and truest kind, but also
for being the most humblest of poets. Never an effort seems to
concern your pen. It's as if grace and beauty just flow from it
of their own free will. Struggle indeed.

[I dare not compare thy work with any other, but let me just say
you always offer a challenge and an inspiration with each
and every verse]

I need only draw attention to this write of flawless beauty and

... rest my case

Always~

~Breezy

This is an outstanding sonnet. I love the sultry images of Summer and the smooth flow of the lines. This would be a good one to read out loud. Have you tried it? The words flow beautifully.

You know, I haven't read that much of your poetry, but every time I read one of your poems it proves to me that I am missing out.

You say that sonnet's are not your strength, but I think you did marvelously.

A wonderful write,

*hugs*

You pen the most remarkable masterpieces and u meet any challenges that u face when it comes to poetry.
Your ability and potential to deliver such poetic verses is extraordinary. Only a truly gifted and talented poet like yourself can produce a flawless sonnet like this.
You never cease to amaze me Billy~
