Clenched to nothing but his gun,
Protect him please dear Lord,
This soldier is too young.

He is fighting for all he knows,
Serving his country the best he can,
But Lord please be with him always,
Answer his prays that come from wounded hands.

Some say war is not the answer,
While some say it's the only way,
But Lord I could care less what is or isn't,
Just let this soldier see another day.

If something happens,
And he should be taken,
It wont be the first I’ve seen,
But please dear Lord don’t let that happen,
For this soldier is close to me.

My cousin's out in Iraq, so I kind of understand what you're going through, it's tough having someone out there, good luck to both of you,

Lo~
My heart and prayers are with u always dear friend. I felt ur pain, ur sadness and ur longing to have ur soldier back in ur arms where he belongs. Not somewhere else fighting someone elses war. May God bring ur soldier back home safe and sound real soon. A sad, but very well ascribed piece of poetry that touches the heart. Well done Lo~ Keep up the great work.
love, hugs n prayers always,
