Array ( [sid] => 120887 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Uncle Randy’s Sentence [time] => 2006-05-27 22:47:56 [hometext] => i love my family, they give me such wonderful poems! [bodytext] => I never thought I
would be in this place.
A place that claimed my dreams,
even when I was high.
With steel bars that mark the
stains on my soul,
bars that trap every
wrong I’ve committed.
I never thought I would be here.
Well, at least not for this.

Maybe ‘cuz I was doin’ drugs,
that was something I could have dealt with.
I know I have a problem,
even though my Catholic faith
says I shouldn’t.
Or for being drunk in public,
because I needed to get away somehow.
Maybe even drinking while driving.
The possibilities are endless.

But this?
It wasn’t my fault at all,
I tell you, she seduced me!
I thought I could trust her,
even when I was looking at the ceiling
in wonder, when I was so dizzy on acid
I couldn’t move my arm,
thinking it was my leg.
But she took advantage of me
when I was too high to care about anything.

And as a man,
who was I to refuse
someone so willing?
especially when I was
so
far
gone
I couldn’t recognize her face, her voice.

I don’t know what made her
do the things she did,
maybe she hated me
For something I don’t remember.
She was my Daughter for christsake!

I suppose it is my fault,
For allowing myself to feel so
Good, for trying to
make my pain disappear.
Maybe this is teaching me a lesson,
The Lord’s way of making me pay for my sins.

It doesn’t matter though,
‘cuz my sentence is almost up.
Soon I will be able to confront her.
Just a few more months,
I will get my answers soon enough. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 189 [topic] => 13 [informant] => AshRayne [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
