I think this is one of the best poems I have ever written and it is most likely the last poem I will ever post here so read it and enjoy! * [bodytext] => Clarity, like staring through panes of frosted glass.
Muttering to dead gods
whose bones only decay and fade to dust.
Wearing a mask to betray no sense of emotion.
No pain, no joy
only that stinging emptiness.
Chemically designed to not feel
only left with the taste of Apathy in my mouth.
Fading, flickering light
at the end and my fingers
they always burn.
Cannot buy a cure
seemingly only nothing,
but a burning affliction.

Longing to rot in stasis
forget my dying self
and this dead world.
Seeing only broken faces
mirroring dashed dreams.
Cannot peer through this haze.
Confusion, like buzzing bees
nothing remains the same,
knowing always chokes,
roses always cut,
and these cuts never heal.
My torrent of tears now flow
as my body dies
bathed in affliction's light.

Don't ask me to care...

This ... well it made me catch my breath. It kind of crawled its way inside me..it's a feeling I kind of know..an empty feeling..
you describe it so very well.

*sips your pain and despondency*

Hmmm.... yes, I do believe... oh yes... I am quite familiar with this taste... these... feelings. Wow... lots of pent up emotion, dearie. A world of dripping catacombs and venomous flowers, all-consuming blackness and decay... but so beautiful, only the way you can make it. And the apathy the resonates throughout this is... heart-breaking. Yet... relatable. (If that's even a word... if not... I made it so.) I know PRECISELY what you are declaring here... I know the agony of holding more weight than your already-feeble shoulders can take, I know the acidic burn of hate and lust for an end... my veins smolder in it nearly everyday. Your reference to seeing things "in a haze" is delightfully morbid, your dissociation taking complete hold of you, and you succumbing to it, not caring if the world exploded around you... And the title, for once, does prepare (only slightly) the reader for what is to come... the inevitable destruction of all their hope. What perfection, this. I'm sorry to hear that this will be your last poem submitted on dear ole YPDC... but like a certain someone said... People need to move on. I'm glad you felt at home here, and were able to express yourself to the fullest extent and not be judged. I don't think I need to tell you that I'm going to miss you dearly... but, you know... yer gonna keep in touch with me anyway. That's an order, mister. :-P. Ya know ya love meeeee!! *BIG HUGS AND SMOOCHIES AUREVOIR!* And don't EVER stop writing... it would truly be the end. Much love and prosperity to you, dear friend... Thank you for everything that you have done here, and outside of here... I don't think you'll ever know how much you've effected my life. Maybe one day... :). A marvellous testimony to your endless talent, cheri... I am eternally proud to be called your friend. Always this. Take care of yourself, honey. Love ya bunches.

Toujours,

~Stephy-Kins

my dear Joel, it's been so long, hasn't it? this is such an emotive write, I can't help but fall in love with it. i think, despite all the pains we suffer, isn't it incredible the art that can be created from it? here for you, as always, just an email away.

well now.......such feeling in a piece about not caring.....and yet the tears do flow.
Its a shame how pain so often steers us to shut down, to not care...because we are feeling too much.
Incredible piece...I wish you would post again...best of luck wherever you wind up.

Man, Joel you really do write well.. I loved this final piece and wish you would come post more. I hope you check in from time to time, as I do. I have been lost in the world of grown ups for some time now, and dying a little everyday for it. Knowing always chokes - Jason

If sadness, or rather utter despair could be poked and prodded, surely your stinging words would do just so. Something about this made me think of one struggling with addiction. The empty feelings, yet all-encompassing. It is hard to see the light while in this stagnant state. I do hope it has long since passed. I also hope you reconsider this being your last post. A tragedy for the rest of us left behind, for you are truly a gifted poet.
