She was the one everyone wanted to be.
Nobody understood,
Not even me,
Who was her best friend.
Something was eating her up inside.
No one knows why,
But her emotions were on a roller coaster ride.
She used to be so happy
Her life was so carefree
She knew what she was doing
And what she’d grow up to be.
Then all of a sudden
Her life began to fall apart
I wish there was something I could have done
Just thinking about it breaks my heart.
She used to be the one
That I could call late at night
The one that I could talk to
If me and my parents had a fight.
Then she became a stranger to me
And all of her other friends
As far as we knew
Our friendship was at an end.
How did we not notice?
How could we not see?
How could I be so blind to not notice
What was happening right in front of me?
She started to get skinny
She was losing too much weight
She was deteriorating
At a very fast and scary rate.
She was getting weaker and weaker
As every day passed
Then finally one day
It hit us all at last.
It was the day I came home from school
And found my mother crying
She told me that my friend was in the hospital
And may very soon be dieing.
How could this be happening?
How could this be?
What was I going to do
Without her here with me?
We learned many things that day
Things we didn’t know
Things I wish I didn’t have to learn
But they were things that would help you grow.
That night we all had to say goodbye
And I had to watch my best friend die.
