You can break it if you wish
Just please don't give it back.
Break my heart, I'll still love you.

Break it into a million little pieces
And put them in a pretty, silver bowl.
Let everyone see the shimmering shards
That were my heart.
Let them know that you once loved me.
Let them marvel at the way the light
Dances and sparkles like fire-
Deceptively beautiful.

Then show them the heart that broke mine-
The golden lump on the pedestal,
Protected the way mine never was.

Which is more brilliant?
Which loved more?
Which was loved more?
Do you even know?

Oh these words are so emotionally charged. I think it signifies we can love someone still, well after they have broken your heart. I found it very touching. Thanks for adding. Sue x

Wow. This is such a beautifully written piece of work. The emotion behind it...it's obvious that it all stemmed from true heartbreak. And I loved the ending with such a powerful finishing line. Wonderful work.
