as an eerie stillness encompasses
while sleep overtakes the body and mind
struggling to climb from the void
when phantom shadows move in secret
free will flees to certain control
a skip in time and dimension
a hammering heart filled with fear
eyes wide open reflecting the sight
a choking scream escapes unheard
from the ears of those in heavy slumber
a switch is turned and the body obeys
the mind rebels and fights for victory
against the unknown uninvited guests
bent on accomplishing their mission
carried out without hesitation
memories erased and confusion ensues
when entering the twilight zone
how bright the darkness becomes

Wow, dynamically this is enthralling; but the title has an even greater impact, for sure~! Oddly enough, the majority of folk seem to ask that question, when what they should be asking is "how fast can I run."

Love this demonstrative muse, another thought provoking piece. Keep' em coming, this is great!
