Four Deer

Four deer in my yard
Eating whatever
They won't discard
Paranoid ear antenna
Twitching for any sound
Altering hoofed footsteps
On the same trodden ground
Little spirits combined
I have just finished killing
Bigger wastes of my time
Be sure to remind
Me of the pleasantries
I constantly disregard as
A forest for these trees
Remind me now
What true life looks like
Because I'm sure I have forgotten
In the heat of my fight
Let me walk quiet
In the wake of you trail
And realize one thing
That I have failed
To be.
