Just sitting and talking to you I felt so distant.
You didn't talk back-you didn't even cry,
You just listened as I sat with you my face all dry.
This time as I walked away even I wasn't crying,
Because I shouldn't be when you're the one dying.
You died before saying "I love you"
You died before seeing what your little girls go through.
Somedays I cry because I hate you-but it's not your fault,
Because eventually all my tears come to a halt.
I remember how good you were to me,
and I feel bad because it's your pain I couldn't see.
You were such a good mother-why did God take you away?
If you had another chance, would you have picked to stay?
As I sit next to the gray lifeless stone it reads, "Beloved Mother, Daughter, & Sister"
And I think to myself, Do people know how bad I've missed her?
I gently bush off all the leaves that have you covered
And I start to wonder is it just me or do you too feel smothered.
I feel like I can't escape and I can't be who I want to be.
When I talk to you-you listen and I feel like it's the real me that you can see.
Thanks for being my mom, thanks for our little visit and most of all thanks for being there,
You left so fast without me but you'll still be the one to always care.
