but like them i've caught many flies,
too many friends and family members,
have gotten tangled in my web of lies.

built by the silk of shame,
and maintained by a constant fear,
they've yet to discover the ploy,
no one's even come near.

this web has been woven so delicatly,
even i can't tell what's true,
i wish the rain would wash it away,
so i can start anew.

if i could travel time,
i would starve them of the lies they were fed,
if i only had the chance,
i would unsay all those things i said.

i might not have all these friends
but at least i could sleep better at night
if i had never created,
this filthy web of lies. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 402 [topic] => 71 [informant] => tin [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => secrets )

i really enjoyed the metaphor played here. Good rhyme scheme and content.
I can correlate all too well. It is hard to be ourselves at times. There are advantages and disadvantages to every situation. Lies can become very complex. Thanks for sharing this piece. Very well expressed.
