The Shadows of Death Await Me

Contributed by MissTea on Friday, 28th April 2006 @ 01:12:10 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Desperate attempts to drown out the sounds, tortured minds screaming out to be held.
I see their haunted faces, contorted and pale.
Thunder drums in our ears, shattering our last grasps on freedom.

Death falls a thousand feet, takes me even deeper.
Nothing awaits me, perhaps silence or perhaps the thunder.

I hear the throttling cries of another,
strangled by the onslaughts of pain.
Shadows begin to move towards me on the blackened walls,
flesh is torn by an ivy claw, ripped so beautifully I marvel at its deepness.
A heart pumps, a wound leaks.
A scream weakens.

Silence. Yes, silence.
A breath floats past me, bearly touching my icy skin.
A heart slows.
A kiss is flashed before my eyes, a hug, a cry, a laugh, a smile,
a birth thats lastly soars into a death.

Someone drowns in his puddle of life.
A heart beats its last pump,
my eyes shut...
Nothing awaits me.

Someone drowns in his puddle of life.

I loved that line makes you realise how insignificant we really are as human beings.

you know loneliness is a killer I always thought I can't wait to have a single life, but after a while the novelty sure wears off.

you were feeling lonely for a different reason but whatever guise it takes it def isn't fun.

good work.

J.
