Step off a cliff into the dark water below
Climb out on hands and knees gasping for air
Shake off the dust and try to realize where you are
All you see is a dark night
The moon lighting up tree tops and not much else
Squinting does nothing when it's this dark
And you're this alone
Complete silence surrounds you and you can't say anything
Continue walking into the dark abyss
Looking for any sign of life
Or any sign of light
Darker as you walk and the moon appears and disappears through thick trees
The heart races but slows down and relaxes
The cycle continues
Walk for what seems to be miles
No paths to guide you
Run, trip, fall
Shake off the dust again
You look up at the moon and see it's not moving
You realize the sun hasn't come out in a long time, or ever at all
The night is constant
You can't help but to fall to your knees
You can't help but scream [comments] => 1 [counter] => 189 [topic] => 13 [informant] => the_story_of_the_year [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

What you do after that is what makes you who you are. I like this write. With your permission i would like to write an adaptation of this. I can't promise that it will have the same meaning. Then I can write chapter 2 "When all hope is gone and the black comes in"

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
