This voice,
That tiptoes onto the page
And whispers in layers –
Picking up and putting down
Words with little pulleys –
Is precious to me.
She was there, with me,
When I broke the window
And there, every time
I shut a door.
She was there the day
I scattered red rose petals
And she was with me, too
When I first found
The all-of-everything.
She was the one that discovered
Sylvia and Rainer and Fernando
And the others…
And it was her
That understood them
And gave them to me.

She is the one that screams
Whisper-screams
In other people’s words
When she isn’t brave enough
To use her own.
It is in her hand,
That exists the white rose
That I can’t seem to find
Because
She was the one
That saw the true blue
In my grandmother’s eyes
As she was slipping away.
And
She was the one
That said,
“No more”
When
I could not.

And now…
After all the years
I’m only just realizing
(****)
That She will be the one
To follow the path
To its terrible end…

And that I...
(Oh God)
Will
Have
To
Say
Goodbye
To my oldest,

Dearest friend. [comments] => 12 [counter] => 495 [topic] => 61 [informant] => Silent-No-More [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 28 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

OMG, Snemmy, this is sad.

I salute your bravery! And thank you for sharing this, wonderful wonderful poem.

You are, in my humble opinion, a genius and if not you are a wizard of words. Magic!

Thank you,

Tim

*ginormous real bear hugs*

Taken back! I am overwhelmed by the extreme open honesty in your write here. I am sure this was very hard to put out. I know you stated that in your comments, but it is evident in your words within the piece.

As of late some of my favorite poets on this site have absolutely astounded me with the courage to rip from their depths. I cannot remember a time when I have been so surprisingly humbled by the choices in reading I have found.

You people amaze me. Thank you for welcoming the reader into your worlds. I can not think of anything more engaging than open spirited poetry.

A SUPERIOR JOB!

My wishes that tings do not end the way you have stated here. You have my prayers and thoughts.

SCM

I'm with Tim...what a briliant write. It was a "pull you in" poem. The beginning left me in awe....

This voice,
That tiptoes onto the page
And whispers in layers –
Picking up and putting down
Words with little pulleys –

Thank your for sharing this wonderfully bittersweet write with us. Peace, Laura

Wow. Now this is powerful, and sad, and splendidly written. As a poem about the progression life takes us through, which is how I understand it to speak, it's deeply charged with meaning, worthy of the massive Advents that shape our days.

Well done, well done.

Oh Chris...

Posting this here, that shows that you are brave.

Now I knew what this is about, it makes it somehow harder to read.

I have told you what I think about this, but I just wanted to say on here, that you wrote this. You wrote it and it's wonderful and stunning and if it was written for me, I would be saying to myself, that woman there, she can do this.

You are strong, hun, and you're not alone, and you will keep your voice.

*hugs*

From the depths of your heart, its emotion at its rarest form. So many writes have made me feel something deep inside, that is what makes them special to me. Your a word artist, and you are strong, it shows throughout. Ill tuck you near my heart, lifting you up from a distance. If anyone can do what needs to be done it is you!

i would think, like voices often do; perhaps it is more a change. maybe the tiptoey voice had caterpillar legs and it is just now growing wings.

i find cause to celebrate here, and reasons enough to beleive in silver linings.

Not sure about the substance of this one - an ambiguous soliloquy about your muse, or alter ego? or a more corporeal mentor perhaps? Sounds to me like the former. Its a lovely, revealing piece though, giving me an insight into someone who remains so well protected and guarded, despite your number of posts.
