We used to laugh
You called me friend
I believed in you
If I was all that you said
A companion of honesty
A beauty of life
Then why did you run
Why didn’t you fight
You deserted me
Left without glancing back
You knew me
And my life
I never disguised myself
I was always true
Maybe you fear that
And I’m to blame
Though I must say
You did me wrong
And I stayed faithful
I did as you asked
I said goodbye
I will live with the anticipation
That you will soon come round
Until then I’ll have
Another chance to be alone
To be forsaken
Another chance to be a fool
To doubt myself
Another chance to do right
To leave you be
Another chance to give up
To live in solitude

friend you did the right thing, Friendship and love should never be mixed-up, because friendship is trust and love is faith.
Good work, hope to read more from your heart.
Welcome to YPDC.

Something very familiar to me. One of my best friends in high school got married a year or so after graduation. She and I still hung out, and in fact many people thought we were together. WIthin time I began to develop feelings for her. I kept it inside until I believed that the feeling was mutual. Then out of respect to her, her husband, and her relationship I had to back away and did. I regret it, but I would have regreted the outcome had we continued along with the feelings we had. Nothing wonderful could have come, only disaster.
This was a wonderfully written poem displaying your feelings of betrayal about the situation. The only thing I can tell you is perhaps this is the best thing. He may have been a better friend by letting you and your marriage alone than the possibilities that would have come from continuing the friendship. In many ways this is a most unselfish act. I still think of my friend, and she plays on my mind every day in some sort of way. Now, however she is a mother and very happy wife to her husband. So what more could I wish for someone I cared so deeply for. Anything beyond that would be selfish.
WELL DONE

I had a friend who deserted me too. You express those feelings very well. I enjoyed reading the poem. It has a nice flow. Very good job!
