an affliction of old age?
how many midnights pass as I turn
another page
I close my eyes, hoping for flight
into a world of nothingness,
yet the thoughts rage, as I pray
for numbness
again and again into wordless night
away from computer. away from TV
no worry, nor strife, nothing to write
please Dear God help me to sleep tonight.
pondering the themes I love best,
silence abound, my heart's content,
darkness, counted stars, eluded rest.............
endless, sleepless nights
a test?

“A flock of sheep that leisurely pass by,
One after one; the sound of rain, and bees
Murmuring; the fall of rivers, winds and seas,
Smooth fields, white sheets of water, and pure sky;
I have thought of all by turns, and yet do lie

Sleepless!”

I like that Consue. It's a bit sad. I however, think insomnia is not bias and shares itself with all ages.

Take care,

Tim

My sweetheart I can so much relate to ur poem. Age is just a number. I have many sleepless nights my dear and I'm only 33. I'm looking at investing in a new picture of wooly sheep, lol, maybe that will help me. I try to meditate before I go to bed. This is s'posed to help one relax and drift off to sleep. Well sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Most of the times I'm back to square one again. A sad, but very well penned piece of poetry. I always look forward to reading ur work my dear. I just wished I had a cure for ur insomnia.
Much love and big warm wooly sheep to help u get some sleep,
~*suzie Q*~

I know I shouldn't see the humour in it.

(but that's me all over)

The other night I was at work and there's a lady who rarely sleeps more than an hour or two at a time.

Anyway to cut a long story short, 3 o clock in the morning I heard all i can describe as a blood curdling scream.

I rushed into her room dreading what i would find...

She was lay face down on her bed with her arm hanging down.

I knew there was still life as the hanging arm seemed to be searching for something underneath the bed.

She raised her head from the pillow and screamed at me face contorted...

"Johneeee I've lost my library ticket!!"

To which I replied.

"Ummm I think the library's closed now!"

Hmmm Is this what's in store for me in the near future?? Right now I am usually so tired when I get to bed that I have no trouble sleeping....
Good write. Hope you get some restful nights soon..
Hugs
Jenni
