Grief

They held the child; so still she was.
Rocking her gently, knowing she's gone.
Her sweet face mimics sleep.
Eyes closed, they feel much grief.
The night she died, they pondered a reason?
In their thoughts, "to everything is a time,
a season".
For a child's death, what could possibly be the reason?
Her life so short, her smile to suddenly fadded.
A big sister; a little girl herself; left jaded.
They held her so tightly; sobing; no relief.
The night she died, still beyond their belief.
