Array ( [sid] => 118068 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Dear Lana [time] => 2006-04-10 08:43:28 [hometext] => This was written for my granddaughter. She is only 2 now, but she will understand someday. [bodytext] => Happy birthday to you. Today you turn two.
I remember when I found out about you,
I wasn't sure just what to do.
But your mother knew what she wanted,
And by her I would stand.
To the Doctors we would go,
Me sometimes wanting to hold her hand.

When I heard your heart beat for the first time,
It was magical wonder to me.
But when I looked into your mothers eyes,
It was the love for you I could see.
You started to move around and grow,
And soon your mothers belly began to show.
It was such an honor for me to be there,
This precious moment in time,
With my daughter to share.

My little girl, soon a mother to be,
How the years passed by so quickly.
Your mother's beautiful, that much is true,
But she was even more beautiful,
While pregnant with you.
Then one day, off to the hospital we went,
No time wasted, no time spent.

Both of your grandma's, and your great
Grandma and grandpa too,
Were all there, waiting to meet you.
Then it was time for you to appear,
The moment we were waiting for,
Was finally here.
Your mother pushed and pushed,
And finally you were born,
And I had the privilage of cutting the cord.

There was laughter, hugs and tears,
There was "I love you's", yahoo's and cheers.

Looking at you was like a miracle to me,
You were an amazing sight to see.
You looked like your mother when she was brand new,
I just couldn't stop looking at you.
It was immediate, love at first sight,
You were my joy, my hearts delight.

Now two years have gone by, where does the time go?
In those two years, how much you have grown.
Now you're walking and talking, and so very smart,
Your mother saw to that right from the start.

Your mother's done a fine job with you,
Raising you on her own.
That's love and dedication,
That only a mother's heart knows.

You are a very loved little girl Lana,
By many far and wide.
And the love I have for you, nothing can divide.
You are my one and only grandchild,
And so very special to me,
You're our next addition to the family tree.

So I have one wish for you, on your special day,
That love, peace and joy in your life will always stay.
I pray you will find kindness,
On every path you take.
And never have any regrets,
For the mistakes that you might make.
Please don't take life too seriously,
You'll never get out alive.
But set your sights upon your goals,
And for that you will strive.

I love you little Lana, what more can I say?
You stole my heart, you took it on that day.
We are together, right here in my heart,
And as long as I live, we will never part.
I just wanted to tell you how much that you are loved,
And what a blessing you are,
Sent from up above.
