and hate myself
I feel so sick just to think
of me
And what I did to you

Your forgiveness unending
My guilt inconsolable

I did what I swore I'd never
do again, I fell and
as you try to raise me up
again
I grab the floor
to get you off
and kick and scream
like a child

Your forgiveness unending
My guilt inconsolable

I cry and beat my fists against the
floor
I don't deserve your
kindness
I cry,
I love you
and I don't think badly of you
you whisper

Your forgiveness unending
My guilt inconsolable

You reach for the book
the book of your promises
and tell me them again
one by one
I start to listen and
I know it's real

Your forgiveness unending
My stupidity waning

You kiss me and tell me
it's better
we can go on
I swear never to do
it again
but how do you manage to believe
me, I said that last time

Your forgiveness unending
My heart healed

We'll walk the path again
I'll come to obstacles and fail
But you're with me
With rod and staff
To stop me falling too far
I can only come against
the obstacles you want me to
I shall not want
You'll lay me down to rest
and give me food and drink
You'll lay me a place at your table, when
we reach the end of the road

Your forgiveness unending
Our love reconsiled
My heart burning

What a powerful and heartfelt poem. You brilliantly describe what many have struggled with, Most importantly is God forgives us if we ask and are truely sorry. Hugs to you

A moving portrayal of God's forgiveness. The emotion is very well handled in this piece, and the closing lines finish off nicely. Well done.
