Not everyone loves them all
And yet they are loved

The black
How dark and bitter they taste
Like eating burnt popcorn
And yet you must try them
Just to see what it tasted like
And yet what kind of bag would it be
Without them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

The red
So very red and so very juicy
Every little bite holds oceans of juice
Ready to wash your mouth with a wave of flavor
Red might be too much at times when all you want is blue
And yet what kind of bag would it be
Without them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

The yellow
Ahh the smooth taste of yellow
But with in the smooth taste of yellow
There in lies the prick of sour
That makes you think you have
Eaten a green so you are tricked
Into eating more yellows
And yet what kind of bag would it be
With out them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

The orange
The bite of the citrus
That cuts into your taste buds
With such force that it makes you jump
For you might have eaten knives
But the calm after taste says
That you have been made a fool
By the orange jelly bean
And yet what kind of bag would it be
Without them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

The purple
The unexpected bite
The flash of flavor
Only to slowly
Die away...
...
You stand back as if you
Have just seen a ghost
As an aftertaste comes in late
But of course it would
With the sudden flash flood of taste
To make you think again about
Eating another of its friends
And yet what kind of bag would it be
Without them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

The green
Comes in sneaky like
As if to take you by surprise
So you brace yourself
But you still get knocked down
By the sour assassin
But when he leaves you feel
Freshness as you breathe in
As to say "Come back if you
Want some more"
And yet what kind of bag would it be
Without them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

The White
Much like eating wax
But still I think that under
The waxy cover lays a hidden secret
And does my tongue lie to me
NO there it is the sweet inside
Of the mysterious white jelly bean
And yet what kind of bag would it be
Without them, yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest

All the different colors of the jelly beans
Are the different colors of music?
So dark and unpleasant
Others white and plain
But still others are just
As fruit full as the
Jelly beans

And yet what kind of world would it be
Without the different colored songs
Yes they are loved by some
And hated by others but so are the rest
And as for me
Well I am just happy
That I can enjoy them all
