My baby is having a birthday
my eyes are filling up with mist
As my memories go astray

I think back to that time long ago
when I was that fragile age
All the dolls you would outgrow
now boys were all the rage

sitting looking at someone cute
it really was not nice
quickly you became a mute
hands as cold as ice

heart flutter they just walked by
He is asking for directions
Do you know where I can buy a pie?
My legs just turned to melons

Its funny that I remember this
As clearly to this day
My first look, my first kiss
My thoughts just drift away

I know that she will go through this
She thinks that I dont know
I want her to share her first kiss
It's something I wont outgrow

Very well done, your words brought a tear to my eye as I remember my turning 16 and then my daughter who is now 18 and has moved out on her own. (one more to go)

Thank you for sharing

*Hugs*
