Array ( [sid] => 117456 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Are you still there [time] => 2006-03-31 16:31:56 [hometext] => This just came to me one day so I wrote it down, it's probably terrible but there you go. [bodytext] => I lie back
hard, cold bed beneath me
The ceiling fan stares back at me,
he can't look

Are You still there?
I feel You
Your heart in time
with mine.
I'll try to find a
way to say
goodbye

A thousand thoughts
at a thousand
miles an hour,
I could still stop this,
I could still still scream
until they let us go.

But I don't,
I can't,
can't move,
can't think,
can't breathe anymore.
I don't think I want to.

Cold latex fingers
grip my sides.
I stretch my neck
to see my knees
either side.
A blue cloth is all
my modesty.

You're still there
we haven't yet let go.
And I could still
say no,
say stop,
say goodbye and
walk away.
But no.

I can feel their sharp
intruments in me,
My fear numbs the
pain,
but not the pain
in my head
as it reels a million
choices I could take.
Is this the one?

Your beat's still there,
so faint,
so frail.
Soon, I know, to stop.
You're still mine though,
You still belong to me.
I cradle you now
though I never can.

It's all hapening now
and I know it's too late,
to scream, to cry
'till they let go
and let us be one.

I asked for this,
I wanted this,
did I?
Descisions aren't so
simple
anymore.

Are you still there?
i can't feel your
beat, only mine.
i listen, i listen
so hard.
one where Two
should be.

They're speaking again
but i can't listen,
i don't even try.
They lift me up and
i dress,
i cover up my body.

A little water
to wash me of this
deed.

Are you still there?
Are you?
i feel where you should be
but it's empty
and i'm alone.
Left to hear only one
beat
beat
beat
beat
i know it'll never forgive
beat
beat
beat... [comments] => 4 [counter] => 277 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Somnium [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Sometimes when it's hard to fathom what the writer is trying to say adds an extra dimension to a poem.

Looking for meaning, and being given points to ponder gives the reader something in depth to think about.

Which in my eyes is a good thing.

An enjoyable read well done.
