sideways,
even inside out.
multitudinous depths
layers,
The masks of the real me shine bright in the headlights.

Stranded.
Accompanied, yet alone.
A friend looks down,
Sees the first layer and smiles.
The sleek styled curls
A push up bra,
padded in just the way he'll like.

The sky stays the same
She dozes into the silence of the open road.
She looks over,
A thumbs up,
a second layer shines through.
She knows me better than he did.
She's seen the tears, the unmade face.
the freshly woken, bleary eyed girl.

He takes my hand.
Lies besides me and stares.
Dough eyes penetrate my thoughts.
Seeing yet another layer
leaving me vulnerable in he hot summer light.
He watches me lay restless.
kisses my cheek, closes his eyes...
leaves me more confused than in the headlights.

She tries to rescue me.
The real me.
Tries to take me away,
take me home.
To somewhere better,
and someone worth my layers.

I thought this was really emotive. I can relate to it actually, having layers. I thought it poignant you using very materialistic things to highlight the outer layer.
Really fantastic.
