Array ( [sid] => 117238 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Silence Before the Storm [time] => 2006-03-28 17:19:40 [hometext] => I wrote this when I was in Havenwyck ( a mental hospital ). I was in there for several reasons but one was because I was raped and I wrote this as therapy. [bodytext] => Dark clouds looming
Rain is impending
This is the silence
before the storm.

Choking back
salty tears.
Keeping silent
all of my fears.

This is the silence
before the storm.
Emotions are pent up
and I’m feeling full up–
of all the things I fear to say. . .
but I’m gonna say them anyway.

Yeah, I was a little stupid.
I thought I’d never be one of
“those girls”,
but here I sit in Havenwyck
emotionally and physically torn.
He broke me and he raped me.
I can choose to dwell on
what he did, or just let it out,
move on, and forgive.

I can choose to never trust again.
I can choose to never feel safe again.
But I’m going to choose to be a little smarter.
I am going to choose to take my life a little farther.
Today is the day I let the rain fall
and wash away my fears, and after the storm has
again silenced, I will move on with the years.

Usually you think of rain as depressing, but in your poem you've let the rain wash away all the pain in the past, I like that. Let your own fury tread you through life like that of a storm. But make sure your storm shoots you up and replenishes you, and gives you the strength to make a comeback and live a great life. Good stuff.

Intense... and rightfully so

remember that the rain also makes things grow, and that darkness is temporary.

Your body may have been broken, but it sounds like your spirit is intact.. you really moved me.

Keep writing about your feelings
That too will help wash the grime away.
good luck and God bless

Roger
