To continually snap me out of drearyness,
I've now this pupp who knows no weariness... [bodytext] =>
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Mulligan walked along calmly with me
politely we went under the pink dogwood tree,
that mastiff nose twitched as he saw the horse
off in the distance; she wasn't bigger of course.

Mulligan left the yard a special little gift, and
on my tomatoes; he thought his leg he would lift,
and he saw some fluttering pretty butterflies...
though what Really opened up his eyes--

On a grassy hillside on a log by the road
Was a rock that moved! --->It was a Toad!
Mulligan's shock sent him two feet in the air
as Toad hopped off without nary a care.

Ahhh, now anyone who knows of Mulligan dog
knows the fun did not quite end at the log,
I did not.. have plans.. of getting soaking.. wet...
though Mulligan had ideas for that Toad he'd met.

Tail wagging furiously, mastiff body all-a-wiggle
Mulligan's tongue was hanging out; me I giggled,
'twas just the very cutest thing you ever did see
and was still pretty funny as we passed that tree...

We went around the corner kind of sideways
when knees hit ground, I said, "Mulligan! Hey!"
Mulligan Mastiff forgot the Toad; as he saw the Cat
cat took off, pupp followed, that's that; Right ?

(no...alas I did not let go of the leash! Kapesh?)

Walking with your dog makes such a truely special bond;
I shall have to Remember this, on-our-next-Run-Through-the-Pond!

This was cute. I love poems about animals and there aren't enough of them on this site. We need more humour on this site. Well done.

Loved this one. Dogs are real company and they do amuse us and help us too.

I like this dog already. :)

Yep, this gave me a laugh too. One of my current dogs had a similar adventure with a toad this past summer in our backyard. It did not end well for Mr. Toad. It also resulted in a dreadful couple of hours for my curious dog.

Mulligan sounds really cool. Love dogs...even though they can make a big mess of us and everything else.

Enjoyed this immensely!

Thank you.
