Array ( [sid] => 116875 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The path I chose... [time] => 2006-03-22 20:20:08 [hometext] => I wrote this after waking up from dreaming it in the middle of the night. I was in my 3rd year of cellibacy at the time. I'm so nervous posting this...oh well here it goes... [bodytext] => The silence of loneliness
The solitude of despair
There once was a time
I was a maiden fair
With a heart full of love
And a head full of dreams
I woke up one day to realize
Nothing is as it seems
My soul still sometimes screams
For the lust of youth
And the innocence lost
Even though I chose my path
I now ask at what cost

I walk along the sandy shore
Pondering my thoughts away
I see the lovers talking
Wondering what they say
Something burns inside me
A void I have not filled
A dream of no despair
Suddenly I am chilled
With the face of reality
Gleaming it's ugly head at me
Reminding me of whom I am
Where I've been
And where I stand

A simple glimpse in my mind's eye
Of us making love
Beneath the star-lit sky
It quickly fades
And I am left
To feel this void
Upon my chest
I catch a breath
I look away
Hoping to feel love again
Some how some day

I continue walking
This path I've chosen
Constantly picking up the pieces
Counting the times my heart was broken

I continue walking
This path I've chose
Remaining in solitude
Avoiding those
Those who could hurt me
For before I could not see
Now I choose not to look
For fear that they'll see me

Me a broken woman perhaps
But never fully down
I chose the path
I know where it leads
Straight to avoiding
My own emotional needs

I refuse to believe
That the path never ends
For when something stops
Something new always begins

And so there's hope
Even for me
Perhaps he's out there
And in time I will see.

This is not bad. I like the hopeful ending. It is always good to not give up on having faith.

There is so much truth in this poem. It's really hard not to see it.

this one was my favorite out of all of yours,

I see the lovers talking
Wondering what they say
Something burns inside me
A void I have not filled

great line...i know what you mean, seeing two people together and wishing you were one of the two.

This is a beautiful, strong write
I think many feel this way, hope you've found that place were your heart is happy, hope you've put the pieces back together where you have some one for the beauty of your communication.

Hi Selena,

a powerful beautifully written and startlingly honest poem, like much of your writing. It's plain to see that you write for more than simply the sake of writing and being another name on this site. It's good to see work that is so subjective but touches on emotions that so many have felt. It is particularly interesting to me as a writer as it allows me see my writing in a new light. My poems are often in some way autobiographical but I guess I use more euphemisms...Look forward to reading more.
